This is a common question we’re asked by dentists: Can you treat one arch at a time with Smilelign clear aligners? In this video, we explain how dentists should think about this in practice.
Yes you can.
And if that’s the only patient wish that they want to have their uppers done and not the lowers, then we can absolutely do that. We would always recommend wherever it’s appropriate to do so to at least show that patient a dual arch option.
It’s common for when the uppers are complete that a patient does want to have their lowers done. That means extra chair time for you, an awkward conversation about cost, and really slightly disappointing results from a patient’s perspective that they’re going to have to do it all again. So we would always recommend putting a dual arch option forwards at the very least so if they do turn it down they’ve had that option at the start.
